Multi-Stakeholder Platform Update Meeting

May 14, 2025

Youth Champions of the Urban Futures Project in Chongwe convened with the Multi-Stakeholder Platform to share progress updates, strengthen collaboration, and reaffirm the vital role of young people in driving sustainable urban development. The meeting underscored the importance of inclusive dialogue in shaping a resilient and inclusive future for Chongwe.

The Urban Futures Project, supported by Hivos and the Botnar Foundation, is a global initiative aimed at building inclusive, climate-resilient urban food systems by empowering young people. In Zambia, the project is being implemented in Chongwe District by CUTS in partnership with the Global Network Solution with a focus on promoting youth engagement and innovation in the food sector.

Following the successful establishment of the Multi-Stakeholder Platform in 2024, this meeting marked a significant milestone in the collaborative journey. It provided an opportunity to reinforce partnerships established during the initial phase and realign shared efforts toward advancing youth-led, transformative urban food systems.

The key objectives of the meeting were to:
Present a comprehensive update on the progress made by Urban Futures Youth participants in key development areas such as education, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement.
Share experiences, insights, and innovations emerging from the project.
The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of all stakeholders to co-create solutions with young people at the center, ensuring their active participation in shaping sustainable, inclusive cities.
