Learners from Silver Rest School in Chongwe emerged winners of a school quiz held on 25th July, following a week of impactful training sessions on food systems, nutrition, sustainable agriculture, and climate change.
The quiz was the culmination of a two-day training held on 16th and 17th July, where Urban Futures (UF) youth facilitators engaged Grade 4 to 6 pupils from Matipula Primary School and Silver Rest School. The sessions aimed to empower young learners with knowledge and skills to become champions of a sustainable food future.
As part of the training, pupils participated in hands-on activities such as land preparation and the planting of vegetables and fruit trees—encouraging practical learning and environmental stewardship.
The school quiz tested the learners’ understanding of the topics covered during the training. All pupils demonstrated remarkable knowledge and enthusiasm, with Silver Rest School ultimately taking the top spot.
Organizers applauded the participation and energy shown by both schools.
Big up to all the pupils from Matipula Primary School and Silver Rest School for their passion and commitment to creating a better, climate-resilient food system.
The initiative is part of broader efforts under the Urban Futures project to promote sustainable consumption and climate action among youth in Zambia.
