UNICEF officials visited CUTS offices in Lusaka to discuss potential collaboration on the Urban Future project, which seeks to transform Zambia’s food system.
CUTS, in partnership with Hivos Regional Office Southern Africa and Global Network Solution, is implementing the Empowering Urban Youths through AgriUrban Connect initiative in Chongwe district, Lusaka province. This initiative addresses key challenges such as urbanization, food security, climate change, and youth unemployment by equipping young people with skills in sustainable food systems.
As part of their visit, UNICEF officials toured the project hub, where youths are being mentored and trained. UNICEF’s engagement in food systems focuses on improving child health and nutrition, tackling malnutrition, advocating for supportive policies, and promoting healthy eating.
The meeting marked a promising step toward collaboration, with both organizations committed to creating a more resilient and sustainable food system for Zambia’s future.
