The Urban Futures Youths in Chongwe joined stakeholders at the 1st quarter National Food systems dialogue held at M’kango Golf view hotel in Lusaka.
Held under the theme “Harmonising synergies for a safe, equitable and sustainable food system” the event brought together key stakeholders including parliamentarians, traditional leaders, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, local CSOs, small holder farmers among other players.
The event was graced by His Royal Highness Chief Nalubamba of the Ila people who urged the youths to respect and learn traditional farming practices while embracing technology and innovation to drive food systems transformation.
The youths were accorded an opportunity to demonstrate their innovations in food systems transformation, they showcased some organic products and also engaged in a panel discussion with other farmers to share their experience, address concerns and highlight their interests in changing the food systems for the better.
The Urban Futures project is being implemented by CUTS in partnership with Global Network Solutions and Hivos Regional Office Southern Africa, to promote inclusive, climate-resilient urban food systems.
