CUTS held a youth roundtable meeting on food transformation, health, and climate change, bringing together key stakeholders from government ministries and Chongwe youth. Ministries present included the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, and Ministry of Green economy and Environment. The meeting provided a platform to discuss and strategize solutions to pressing issues surrounding food transformation within the context of climate change and public health.
The dialogue featured active participation from Chongwe youth involved in the Urban Futures project, a transformative initiative designed to develop sustainable food systems that address local needs while tackling global challenges related to climate change.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness and educate youth on the government’s role in addressing climate change, while fostering open discussions among youth, government ministries, and institutions such as the National Food and Nutrition Commission.
With support from Hivos, CUTS and the Global Partnership Network are implementing the Urban Futures project, which leverages youth as change agents to transform food systems in Chongwe. The project aims to address critical challenges posed by urbanization, food insecurity, climate change, and youth unemployment, emphasizing a holistic approach to building resilient and sustainable communities
