Zambia Challenged on African Growth Opportunity Act

The African growth opportunity act, an initiative by the American government, was put in place to stimulate trade between developing nations with the United States.

AGOA has however not benefited countries like Zambia owing to the stringent requirements.

The 9th AGOA Forum is currently taking place in the Kansas City of the United States and is being attended by Zambian commerce minister Felix Mutati.

The Consumer Unit Trust society (CUTS) Center coordinator Patrick Chengo has stated that Zambia has a challenge of putting its house in order if it is to benefit from AGOA.

Mr. Chengo says the country needs to improve not only the quality of products to be exported in to the American market but also infrastructure development.
